I'm back this week with another blog and I am sorry to say that I pranked everyone from my last blog. After I wrote my blog two weeks ago about my Court of Honor, it was rescheduled to last night, December 7, 2017. I was also misinformed from my troop advancement leader about how many merit badges and awards I was receiving. I said last time that I was receiving eight merit badges while I only received four: Citizenship in the Community, Cooking, Graphic Arts, and Small Boat Sailing. I also said that I would be receiving two awards, while in reality it was three: NOA (National Outdoor Awards) Hiking, NOA Camping, and the BSA ATV Course Certification. The only thing I knew about and was awarded was the rank advancement to Life. Coming up next is the Personal Management merit badge for December, but I will have to finish all but one requirement. The one requirement that I will have to finish going forward through the coming months is Requirement 2:








Do the following:




a. Prepare a budget reflecting your expected income (allowance, gifts, wages), expenses, and savings. Track and record your actual income, expenses, and savings for 13 consecutive weeks. (You may use the forms provided in this pamphlet, devise your own, or use a computer generated version.) When complete, present the records showing the results to your merit badge counselor.


b. Compare expected income with expected expenses.
1. If expenses exceed income, determine steps to balance your budget.
2. If income exceeds expenses, state how you would use the excess money (new goal, savings).




As the requirement states, I need to track my income, expenses, and savings for thirteen consecutive weeks. If I started today, I would be finished Requirement 2 on March 9, 2018.

Recently, I haven't been making much progress. I know that is my fault, but I can't really do anything about it except keep working bit by bit. I don't have any out of school activities to do as requirements except for Personal Management, and all I can do for that is track my spending progress for the next ten weeks. However, I do have some planning for my Eagle Project. I need to figure out what I am going to work on, then draw up plans, present them to the Eagle Board, commence work, and then finish up my requirements. After planning and approval, I could use my class time to make signs to put around the school and show them to my troop in order to get volunteer helpers to make my life easier. I've realized through helping other now-Eagles on their projects that my role is to do only a small part of the work. My actual role is to manage and coordinate others to complete the project. Hey everyone! I'm back after over a month of inactivity. In the last blog, I had just received my merit badges and rank advancements that I had achieved over the summer at Camp Resica Falls in East Stroudsburg, PA. This time, I have pretty much completed my December deliverables for Dr. Swinehart. My deliverable was completing the merit badge workbook for Personal Management. The only reason I did not finish was because of two requirements. The first is Requirement 1c2: "Comparison shop for the item. Find out where you can buy the item for the best price." The second is Requirement 2a and 2b: "Prepare a budget reflecting your expected income (allowance, gifts, wages), expenses, and savings.
